Choosing a portrait photographer is a big deal. If you Google photographers in your area, you most likely are going to come up with a bunch of results. Then what? How do you sift through them all to find one that you want to hire to photograph your family, senior or wedding?
Here are 4 tips on how to choose your photographer
Style
When choosing your photographer for any session, you want to have a clear idea in mind what type of style you’re wanting when you get your final images. What I mean by this is, you don’t want to hire a dark and moody if that’s not what you’re wanting your images to look like, or even if that is your personality and home decor choice.
Personality
Make sure you and your photographer’s personalities go well together. You are going to be spending a good chunk of time together at your session and even chatting prior to your session. You want to be able to feel like you can be yourself around your photographer and feel like you are good friends!
Ask to see a gallery
Ask to see a real gallery from a session that they’ve recently done. You may only see bits and pieces of a session when they share sneak peeks on their socials. Check out what you might be getting in your own gallery!
Details
I know that spending your hard earned money on a photographer to capture big moments in your life is important, and you don’t want to miss anything. Come up with a list of questions you may have prior to reaching out or even before your session. I’ll be honest, there are things I forget to mention after a session, if you have questions before or after your session, I am more than happy to answer them!
