Emily H.’s senior session was one for the books! I’ve had the privilege of photographing several members of her friend group this year, and when it was her turn, I knew we were going to have an amazing time. From her involvement in high school theater, choir, and mock trial, to her love for baseball and dream of becoming a sports agent, Emily is the kind of person who brings passion and energy to everything she does. Her senior session had all the right vibes—fun, unique, and full of personality.
A Creative Start at Hot Sam’s
We kicked off Emily’s session at Hot Sam’s, a hidden gem in Lakeville that’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t been there, picture this: a quirky, almost whimsical junkyard filled with old park attractions, an antique rocket slide, vintage cars, an old caboose, and even some chickens roaming around! It’s a photographer’s dream because every corner offers a new, fascinating backdrop. The eclectic mix of items was the perfect way to reflect Emily’s creative and adventurous spirit.
One of the highlights of the shoot was getting to use the old park attractions. We had so much fun playing with the textures, colors, and history of the area. The rocket slide was a blast (pun intended) and made for a totally unique shot, while the vintage cars and caboose added a touch of nostalgia to the photos. And let me tell you, there were chickens. Lots of chickens. While most of them were content to roam around, one very feisty chicken did not approve of my presence on its turf. It made for some hilarious moments as I tried to avoid its territory while still getting the perfect shot of Emily. At the end of the day, we all survived the chicken encounter, and the photos turned out great!
Golden Hour at Whitetail Woods
After finishing up at Hot Sam’s, we headed over to Whitetail Woods Regional Park to catch some golden hour magic in the beautiful natural setting. The park’s scenic beauty, with its tall trees and peaceful atmosphere, was the perfect contrast to the quirky, urban backdrop of Hot Sam’s. The golden hour lighting was just chef’s kiss—soft, warm, and flattering as Emily posed amidst the lush green landscape. The calm, open space allowed us to capture some stunning, timeless portraits that truly highlighted Emily’s natural beauty.
A Passion for Baseball and the Future
Aside from being a theater, choir, and mock trial enthusiast, Emily has a deep love for baseball. If you know Emily, you know she’s a huge Minnesota Twins fan (Go Twins!). It was so fun to hear her talk about her favorite players and experiences at games. She’s passionate about sports and has dreams of one day becoming a sports agent. I absolutely love how Emily combines creativity with ambition, and I know she’s going to do amazing things in the future.
It was so fun to talk with Emily about her plans for the future and the exciting possibilities ahead. With her drive, intelligence, and passion for sports, I have no doubt that she’ll go far in whatever path she chooses. Whether it’s behind the scenes in theater, negotiating contracts in the world of sports, or anything else she decides to take on, Emily has all the right qualities to succeed.
Wrapping Up the Day
Overall, Emily’s senior session was an incredible experience. From the quirky vibes at Hot Sam’s to the peaceful, serene beauty of Whitetail Woods, we were able to create a collection of images that reflect the many facets of who Emily is—creative, passionate, and ready to take on the world. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her and capture this special time in her life.
Emily, thank you for being such a fun and easygoing subject to photograph! I know you’re going to do amazing things as you head into the next chapter of your life. Whether you’re negotiating a big sports deal or winning mock trial competitions, I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.
