welcome to
Welcome to our journal, where we share recent sessions, our tips, and bits of our life. When we aren't photographing we're improving our home, hanging out with our kids, and reading. We adore working with joyful seniors and families and can't wait to work with you!
Inspiration for a beautiful life
When Julie and I were discussing her family session, I suggested that we try something a little less traditional when it came to fall portraits. I’m so glad Julie and her family were up for an adventure in downtown St. Paul.

The Mower crew is from Indiana, Florida and newly to Minnesota. They are good friends with a family that belongs to the same church as my family. Lori, Troy and Tyler Mower were visiting their daughter and family for a short period in September and wanted some family pictures done while they were here.

Maddie and Emilee are probably the most adorable sisters that I have ever photographed. Their session this year was all about apple picking. They had the most perfect day to do it too. We met at Whistling Well Apple Orchard in Hastings on a Monday night and it was like we had the place to ourselves.

I CANNOT get over how adorable this family is. I was super stoked when the opportunity came to shoot in a sunflower field that Liz and her little family wanted to do it. Last year we tried to do a mini session at the farm but the night before we were going to meet, it stormed. Hard. I mean, destroyed the crops and it was all muddy too. I was really bummed.

What can I say about this session other than that Kathryn totally rocked it. From the outfits to the locations she picked, even the weather was just perfect.
During her session Kathryn and I chatted about what her plans were for after she was done with school. She plans to first, take a fun vacation with her friends out to the Boston area and then go to college somewhere.

Joe told me when discussing his session that he wanted to incorporate a car (a 1979 Pontiac Firebird) that he and his dad have been working on together as a fun father-son project. Which, his big plans after graduation is to go to school to become a mechanic just like his dad.

This small, but cute family was so much fun to hang out with on a Saturday morning early in August. Malorie and her menfolk are members of the same church as my family, and have been members of our church since they were kiddos. I love that even though they have been attending Valley for that long and still continue to be members and raise their kiddos there.

This is the second time I’ve photographed this crew. And boy do I have fun with them. Getting to the point of actually meeting to do their session was not fun however.

Amanda lived in a house full of boys, including the dog…up until almost a month ago. I’ve photographed Amanda and Paul’s family of 5 for the last couple of years. We’ve both been boy mamas to three dudes that are roughly the same age as each other. Then last fall she announced she was pregnant […]

This girl just totally rocked her session though. I put on some music to make it more fun and she just went for it. I mean, she didn’t get me odd looks when I sang terribly out of tune – purposely, to a song that was playing or when I had to walk out onto a dock and freaked out because I hate water.

There’s something extra special about capturing moments for families who are not only wonderful clients but also dear friends. That’s exactly how I felt during my recent fall mini session with the Moe family—Jason, Melissa, Grayson, Elijah, Rowan, and the ever-adorable Joah (affectionately known as “Joah Moah”). This sweet, fun-loving crew has been part of our church family for a couple of years, and getting to photograph them is always a treat.

A Fall Family Session at Schaar’s Bluff with the Blackwell Family As a photographer, there are few things more rewarding than working with a new family and capturing the beauty of their unique dynamics. The Blackwell family was one of those wonderful sessions that I will remember for a long time. They were such […]

Emily H.’s senior session was one for the books! I’ve had the privilege of photographing several members of her friend group this year, and when it was her turn, I knew we were going to have an amazing time. From her involvement in high school theater, choir, and mock trial, to her love for baseball and dream of becoming a sports agent, Emily is the kind of person who brings passion and energy to everything she does. Her senior session had all the right vibes—fun, unique, and full of personality.

I had the pleasure of photographing Parker, a senior from Farmington High School, during her September senior session in the charming town of Northfield. Parker is hoping to pursue a career in fashion merchandising after graduation, so I knew this session was going to be special—not only did we have to capture her personality and beauty, but we also wanted to bring her dreams and interests to life through the images.

Senior photo sessions are always exciting, but sometimes, a little chaos can make them even more memorable. That was certainly the case for Emily’s session in downtown Northfield. It was the first day of Defeat of Jesse James Days, one of the biggest events in town, and let’s just say I wasn’t fully prepared for the festival vibes to kick off so soon! I had thought the event started the following day, not on the day of Emily’s session. That little mix-up led to an unexpected twist in our plans, but one thing remained constant—Emily’s amazing energy, which kept the session fun and relaxed from start to finish.
