Can I just tell you all, how freaking nervous and excited I was to photograph this girl?
I had only done one senior photo session prior to Shannon’s. And that was with a guy. Guys and girls posing is SOOOO vastly different from each other. So getting the posing right for me was terrifying.
Ok, story time. Shannon and her family belong to the same church as me and my family. She’s done church plays with my eldest kiddo and has served in the nursery with me some Sundays. I always thought she thought I was a weirdo lady that loves Harry Potter a little too much ( which it’s true).
When Shannon and her mom, Jennifer reached out to me to hire me to do her senior photos, again, nervous and also excited to do so. A couple of weeks later we were both at a graduation party for another church family. Jennifer told me that when they started discussing her options for a photographer, she mentioned little ol’ me. Shannon evidently, bounced up and down and said “yes! I want Stephanie.”. That made my little heart so happy!
This girl just totally rocked her session though. I put on some music to make it more fun and she just went for it. I mean, she didn’t get me odd looks when I sang terribly out of tune – purposely, to a song that was playing or when I had to walk out onto a dock and freaked out because I hate water.
Her big plans after graduation is to hopefully travel a bit and then go to college out East, in the Boston area.
